Responsibilities Of Direct Support Professionals

In providing excellent care and support to people with diverse needs, Amani Support recognizes the critical role of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and business professionals. We provide a variety of job options in corporate and direct support areas.

Personal Care

 Assist individuals with daily activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming. Support individuals in maintaining their physical well-being and health. Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring adherence to proper protocols.

Skill Development

Help individuals develop and enhance their independent living skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting. Facilitate opportunities for socialization and community engagement. Encourage and support individuals in pursuing their personal goals and aspirations.

Emotional Support

Foster a safe and nurturing environment that promotes emotional well-being. Provide active listening, empathy, and compassionate support to individuals. Encourage individuals to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns.

Behavioral Support

Implement behavior support plans developed in collaboration with the individual, their families, and the interdisciplinary team. Utilize positive behavioral interventions and strategies to promote positive outcomes. Document and report any behavioral incidents or concerns according to organizational guidelines.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of daily activities, services provided, and individual progress. Report any significant changes in behavior, health, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisors.

Qualifications and Skills of Direct Support Professionals

To be successful as a Direct Support Professional at Amani Support, the following qualifications and skills are required:

Education

High school diploma or equivalent (additional certifications or degrees in relevant fields are advantageous).

Experience

Previous experience working with individuals with diverse needs or similar populations.

Communication Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Emotional Inteligence

Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on individuals’ lives.

CPR Certification

First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Team Player

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
